Fundamentum — Latin for foundation — was built on a simple premise: most learning and development spend doesn't fail because the content is wrong. It fails because it was never built to bear the weight of an actual organization.
Fundamentum was founded in 2024 by James and Aidan Williams to close a problem we kept seeing firsthand: most organizations don't lack the desire to develop their people — they lack the internal resources and specialized expertise to do it well. At Fundamentum, we bring over 25 years of combined experience in learning and development and program management, backed by a deep background in risk and compliance analysis — the same rigor that shapes how we diagnose and assess an organization's training landscape today. We work closely with each client to build programs that hold up long after the workshop ends, not ones that look good in a proposal and fade by the next quarter.

Aidan Williams
As Director of Operations and Co-Founder of Fundamentum, Aidan Williams is a seasoned leader in operational strategy, process optimization, and organizational excellence. With experience across SaaS, healthcare, finance, insurance, construction development, and pharmaceutical industries, Aidan has built a career at the intersection of operational innovation and client success.
Aidan began his professional journey at a SaaS startup in the energy sector, where he served as an operations analyst. He led initiatives to streamline contract management, digitizing legal agreements for cloud integration and managing their lifecycle for major energy-sector clients. His work in customer relations, paired with precise inventory and data analysis, drove measurable improvements in operational efficiency and client delivery.
Aidan also founded and independently operated a swimming pool service company, managing every aspect of the business — marketing, sales, operations, and client relations — into a consistently successful venture, demonstrating his ability to build scalable systems from the ground up and earn lasting client trust. Today, he works within the Cyber Risk advisory practice of a national tax and advisory firm, where he serves as lead project manager and primary client contact, scoping engagements, delivering tailored risk solutions, and standardizing client operations to strengthen efficiency and compliance.
At Fundamentum, Aidan brings this cross-industry operational expertise to bear on building sustainable systems, integrating technology effectively, and designing processes that empower both teams and clients to succeed. His background in risk analysis and compliance shapes how Fundamentum evaluates an organization's learning and development practices — bringing the same structured, evidence-based rigor used to assess risk to the assessment of training gaps and organizational readiness.
James Williams
James Williams is the Co-Founder of Fundamentum and a seasoned leader in learning strategy, organizational development, and talent transformation. With over 30 years of experience across education, government, healthcare, and the private sector, James has built a career at the intersection of learning innovation and operational excellence.
James began his professional journey in public education, where he served as both a classroom educator and a building-level administrator. In this capacity, he led over 130 full-time employees and 45 part-time staff, overseeing a $200,000 operational budget. His leadership was marked by a commitment to educator development, student success, and scalable systems for school improvement.
He has since held senior roles in the federal and healthcare sectors, including as Senior Instructional Systems Designer for the U.S. Department of State and Curriculum Manager for the U.S. Department of Defense. In these roles, James has developed and managed enterprise-level learning initiatives supporting diplomatic readiness, defense training pipelines, and healthcare workforce development. His work is grounded in a deep command of both the A.D.D.I.E. framework as well as SAM, instructional systems design (ISD), adult learning theory, UX design, and data-driven learning architecture.
At Fundamentum, James leads with a clear commitment to advancing leadership capability, optimizing workforce performance, and aligning learning with mission-critical outcomes. He remains deeply dedicated to building sustainable learning systems, integrating technology effectively, and designing development pathways that empower both individuals and institutions.
Dr. John Williams
Dr. John Williams is an Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine and a specialist in medical education and tactical medical response training. With over 15 years of frontline experience as an EMT-Paramedic in New York — and still actively serving as a 911 paramedic in the state — Dr. Williams brings a rare combination of prehospital and hospital-based clinical expertise to the design of high-impact medical education and simulation-based training for high-risk operational environments.
A partial scholarship recipient under an EMS academic merit award, Dr. Williams earned his Medical Doctorate in 2019. During medical school, he held several leadership roles, including Vice President for Clinical Skills in the Emergency Interest Group, co-creator of the ERT medic training program, President of the campus Emergency Response Team, and Lead ALS provider for the university's on-campus emergency medical services.
Following graduation, Dr. Williams completed his residency at NY Health and Hospitals, Queens, and was appointed Chief Resident in 2023. He also holds a post-doctoral certificate in Clinician Education from the Harvard Macy Institute, completed in 2021. He currently practices as a Nocturnist and Emergency Department attending physician across multiple facilities in the United States, maintaining active roles in both prehospital and hospital-based emergency care — a dual perspective that directly informs how he builds integrated, reality-based training curricula for tactical medical teams, emergency responders, and mission-critical operators.
Dr. Williams is certified in ATLS, ALS, PALS, and NRP, and pairs his clinical background with advanced tactical training, including the Elite Executive Protection Program at the Israeli Tactical School and additional coursework in TCSM, counter-surveillance, and private investigation through the Lasorsa and Associates Executive Protection Training Institute.
At Fundamentum, Dr. Williams is spearheading the development of a medical-based training program built on his own operational and clinical experience — positioning Fundamentum to bring tactical, reality-based medical training to organizations preparing their people for high-risk, high-stakes environments.
